Hi,

just wondering if anyone knows how i can fix this problem i'm having while trying to re install win XP sp2 after the cd reboots the computer i get to just before the windows loading screen when i get a message that says "can't find hal.dll" and "to please re install windows, but after trying again i still get the same message.

Help me please!!!

Your install medium (CD) or the CDROM drive is bad. Replace the CDROM / DVDROM and try again, or do both, get a different CD and different drive and give it another go.

I agree. Your CD data has either become corrupt or your CD drive is broken, if other CD's work then the problem is the XP boot CD. You can download a XP standard boot disc from here Bootdisk.Com

Once downloaded just burn to disc using a something like nero or Active ISO burner Active@ ISO Burner - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Make sure your BIOS is set to the correct hard drive mode (probably IDE)

Stick it into your PC and install XP again, you will need to activate with your COA code.

Hope this helps
