XP Boot HELP!

I made a new self assembled PC a couple of days ago. Gigabyte Mobo (GA-MA78Gm-S2H), AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (2.8 GHz) CPU, 500 GB Seagate Barracuda SATA HDD, 4 GB RAM (2 x 2 GB) OCZ. I try and install Windows XP Pro SP2 on my new PC. It says it can't find the HDD to install it on, while in BIOS it is being seen. I call Gigabyte and they give me drivers and everything is fine. I install Windows XP Pro SP2 but now when I boot up my computer, the blue bar freezes. I turn on my computer by pressing the Power button on the case, it goes through nicely and smoothly until the part where it says Windows XP with the blue bar running in the middle of the screen. Once there, the blue bar freezes and nothing loads. In about a minute or two it continues moving and my Windows loads successfully. On my older computer, there is no problem... What can I do to remove this freezing/lagging point? Thank - you.
