Default Windows XP Upgrade

I have a problem here...
Ordered a new system, should be here in a few days.
I was gonna install windows 2000 on it, but my dad
picked up WindowsXP home edition UPGRADE.
it says that you can upgrade to windows XP from 9x based operating systems...
the thing is, I want to do a whole new installation, there will
be no operating system on the hard drive, since it will be a whole new hard drive.
I don't have a copy of any of those 9x operating systems...
will I be able to make a new installation useing this upgrade edition?..
any help would be appreciated.

You won't be able to do a fresh install using the upgrade edition.

you could have a look on ebay for a 9x disk (they are cheap) or just get a fresh install disk of xp.

I took care of it, ran over to a REAL computer store, and the only catch was I needed to buy some hardware, so I used it as an excuse to get a logitech mx510.
