Default Windows XP still has updates

Today I shut down my Windows XP computer. Microsoft still offers updates. Here is a photograph if the update screen. Must be a big update because this is taking a long time.

Here is the web page that shows the story.

That's great. I didn't even know those versions are still getting updates.

Although, how can the article say "Service packs are a dead idea". Aren't the "Creator's update" and "Anniversary Update" essentially the same?

Default Windows XP still has updates

The update took the update took 6 hours and 20 minutes. I was thinking after 3 hours the installation quit installing. Glad I waited. Computer is all fine now.

Started 12:51 and finished at 7:00.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Microsoft still provides the windows update service for XP. They just won't be producing any new updates.

I use many other protection options to keep Windows XP good. One update from iobit had the wannacry removal protection.

The article you posted talked about Service Pack 3 for XP. That SP was released many years ago (May 2008 to be exact). Did your XP computer just get updated to SP 3?

This computer that was updated I purchased on December 22, 2016. Purchased because my DOS check programme in which I like will not work on my Windows 10 computer.
