Default Windows XP replacement for kernel/GUI?

I had once a application witch patched up Windows XP and it had changed the GUI so it had multiple desktops and Windows was using less resources. I cannot remember the name of the application, but I know that it had an icon that represented 6 yellow balls positioned like this:
Code:

Sorry for the poor details but I always seem to forget the name for the application. Can anyone help me by reminding me the name?

Thank-you,
