Windows XP Media Center Eddition stuck on an acer laptop

Hello,
I have Windows XP Media Center Eddition stuck on an acer laptop. It turns on, and goes to the Windows XP screen, the bar at the bottom moves for a bit, then it just seazes there. I have tried it in safe mode, tried to reboot it with the Back Up CD in (so that I can format it), but it still gets stuck at the same place.
I also went in setup (F2), but could not find the option of changing the boot up process through CD.

I would try booting in dos... open your registry and close some start up programs... Or even use something like Knoppix... But if you can't even get it to start up with using a back up cd... then what I would do... is open the laptop and make sure the hard drive is completely connected... You could be freezing cause it isn't able to read the hard drive, or something else could have gotten jolted loose and could be causing your freezes... Also you could try pressing F8 or F6 not sure which is it, maybe even F5, and use the Last Known Good Configuration...
