I've heard if you load Windows XP home on two computers from the same disk that it can cause some kind of problems when you surf the internet. Something like microsoft can tell or something and lock your computer up. Is there any truth to this or how does it work?

no that isnt the truth at all i have restalled my computer 4 different times with the same xp and i also install it on to my parents computer with the same disc.

Here is the solution to your problem:

cd ~/ ; ls -al | grep "youradumbass" > stopcomputing.txt

It is safe. You an use it a gazillion times and it will still work...exet the Serial will become no more legal...I hink you can use it 31 times I think.

@haxor: You are a complete idiot

There is no truth to that rumor, not sure who told you that, but they have no clue what they are talking about. As long as you have a valid key it should install and work like a charm.

it wont let you use the key on more than one computer when using the method of activating over the internet, but you can do it as many times as you want when activating over the phone. thats how it is for me anyway....

well i have xp home on 4-different machines, but only one machine is activated..so yes you can use the same disk on multiple machines, just don't activate the others.

by the way, those machines are for playing games & testing new software.
