Windows Updates

Hi -

I have Windows XP with SP3. When ever i run the scan for updates on the Help and support website, it returns all the updates that i need to install. After i click to go ahead and install, it will download them but then will not install them - it just says failed. Any ideas how to fix this, as i need to install some critical updates.

Do you get a specific error message? Does it tell you a specific reason that it failed?

Another thing that you may want to try is installing the updates one at a time, as opposed to all at once. That way, if it's just one update giving you a hard time, you may be able to get some of the other ones to install.

If all else fails then uninstall XP SP3 and re-download it and install again, however do that as a last resort, as it is time consuming.

I have it working now by rolling back to SP2 and reinstalling SP3. It works like a gem.
