windows update help, is this a virus?

I have windows 7 64bit home premium, and I just installed 11 new updates from windows update. when I restarted the computer instead of the normal configuring updates screen it was the windows logo and it said something about items in the registry being updated. does windows update change the registry with some updates?

The reason for this is because Windows is currently using system files at the time Windows Updates are downloading and installing. When you see this screen at shutdown and start up, this is the time where Windows can finally update these files without any other processes or issues interfering with them.
