Windows Update ??

I just got a new HP computer with Windows 8.

I received a message the first day I received the computer to install 26 important updates due to a security issue with Windows 8.

I installed the 26 updates. The updates totaled 375 MB.

Should I have installed all those updates ? That seems like an awful lot of MB to be eaten up by updates.

How do I reverse if I shouldn't have installed all those updates ?

Yes it is normal for Windows to download many updates totalling up to that amount or more..
