When opening "My Computer" my wd passport external hard drive doesn't show up in E: drive it says Local Disk instead. When whats supposed to be my external hard drive is opended windows explorer tries to open instead and then fails to do so by not responding. I have VERY important files on this external hard drive is it possible that my local disk (whatever that is) replaced my external HD? I can't do a system restore because all my backups are on the external HD and fails each time I try to restore. In my Device Manager it says that my WD external HD is working properly but I can't open to view the files, the windows explorer keeps trying to open when I try to open the External HD.
