Default Windows 7 vs Vista

Here's the sitch kiddies. I've just received my windows 7 upgrade package in the post, i have vista on my laptop, spec below and i was wondering whether on not you think the upgrade is worth doing, bearing in mind the upgrade only cost me P&P. So here's what i'm after...

- How easy is the upgrade do you have any tips?
- Can i use the package to dual boot with Vista, although i doubt this?
- What'd be your recommended method of running this bad boy?
- Is the upgrade a good idea? Do you like Windows 7?

PS, I've decided to not put this in the Software category as it is not a technical kind of question, just an opinion based thread.

-The upgrade is pretty easy if you have the Vista version that upgrades directly. Otherwise, it will be a hassle (although I still find it worth the upgrade).

-After you upgrade, you might be able to reinstall Vista. I don't recommend this because Win7 is Vista + more.

-I highly recommend a fresh install. That way you clean up some junk as well.

-The upgrade is an excellent idea. I went from XP to 7 and haven't looked back. The only thing getting on my nerves about Win7 right now is that WarCraft III and Java (v6 upgrade 18) are crashing quite often.

Win7 is definately better.

aslong as everything is backed-up there is minimal to no risk.

Took the plunge and installed W7, will take a little while to get used to the new GUI but no regrets yet.
