Default WIN2K Crashes with new hardware

I have run WIN2K successfully for several years. Just built a new system:

1) ASUS M2N MB
2) AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 CPU
3) eGeForce 8800 GTS PCI Ex video

My system randomly crashes "screen freeze" (almost always while surfing the web). It is especially vulnerable while using Firefox, but also crashes with IE and Netscape browsers.

I have noticed WIN2k has assigned the same IRQ to the VIA Serial bus controller and VIA USB Universal Host controllers. Could this be the issue?

Is anyone else seeing similar issues?

Sorry, the MB is an ASUS M2V.
