iMovie. Because it actually works.

Would purchase Final Cut Pro if I could though.

When i do, i use iMovie, because it's on my mac already? lol

and yeah, Final Cut Pro is a bit steep... xD

Final Cut Studio is a full featured professional editing suite.

iMovie is by far the easiest and best featured "free" (bundled) solution as part of the iLife suite that comes with every Mac.

I use TMPGEnc Authoring Works. I find it simple to use and very reliable. I also allows me to encode the video in DivX, Blu-ray, or DVD form. For simple trans-coding I really like Handbrake, but find that the GNU/Lnux version seems to work better. Of Course, my preferred Linux operating system is Ubuntu, which is free.

In comparison to other professional editing programs, it's downright cheap.

I use iMovie because I'm on a Mac and it's free...

but for Windows 7 users it looks like Windows Live Movie Maker is the free option for them according to this:

Video editing software under $75? | Product Answers at Get.com

Hope that helps...I'm not sure which OS you're on g4b?

Final Cut Pro! I wish I could afford a new Mac right now so I can use this again.
