Using XP right now and with 12 tabs open for several hours and constant browsing, my memory usage isn't going over 400 mb.

But if I use Vista or 7, my memory usage for firefox would easily get to 1GB and often more.

Never seen mine go over 400Mb when I am using Vista. I always believe that the more memory in your system you have the more memory a program uses.

I definitely don't have spy-ware.

Could it be the cache filling up with all my previous browses?

I think it would have something to do with you Cache files, somehow as you said above they are filling up.
