Video playback crashes computer after a minute.

Hey everyone! New to the forum. My knowledge of computers is very limited, so bear with me. Thanks in advance. I have a Sony Vaio vpcf-136fm, running win7 premium home. Whenever I play Empire: Total War or when I play a DVD, it plays for about 1 to 5 mins then crashes. Help!

I appreciate the help but it also does it when I play Total war.

I assume Total War is a game? In that case it sounds like the DVD drive might be going bad. Is it still under warranty?

Does this happen no matter what DVD you use? Are there any error messages?
