Uploading Photos from SD Card

I just finished uploading photos from my SD Card into my PC. I know the upload went fine as I saw each photo in a small box in the lower-right of the screen. Upon completion, I cannot locate these photos. I tried looking in My Pictures, My Computer, My Library, etc. but those photosa are nowhere I can find. After placing the SD Card into the slot, I was never asked where the photos should go. Please help me find these 2000 photos. I am confused. Likewise, when I backup and synch my iPhone photos, they are stored on my PC. Where are these located as well? Thanks.

Try searching for all *.jpg files in your computer (assuming your photos were *.jpg).
You can do that by the following:
Windows 7:
start -> type .jpg (that is DOT JPG) -> show all

Windows 8:
search -> type .jpg -> click Files
