yea thats the grub boot loader (i think its called, i dont know much about linux). i hated that. i think theres other boot managers you can download or surely theres a way to change it just like xp.
you could just create a 10gb partition and install and save everything on your c drive. that will work perfectly fine and you will be able to access it on both os's without doing anything. although id go with 15gb just to be sure. as i usually still store some things on my vista partition and the more free space the better the disk defragmentation will work
