Updating to Windows 7 From XP

I am installing the 32bit version & like I said before I run the windows 7 program to check if my desktop was able to do an update to windows 7 and it said it was I'll upload a pic of that later. I read that I have to turn off my antivirus before I do the installation I am running microsoft security essentials & didn't turn it off before installing, can this be conflicting with the installation?

Are you booting to the dvd drive and doing it or upgrading inside your OS?

I already try it both ways and both times it does the same thing.

It is best to boot from the DVD and do a clean install..

I solve my problem I ran dban on my desktops hardrive to remove everything then I reinstall windows 7 and now it's working... Thanks for the help.
