Default ubuntu running slow

now that i have my computer back to being usable, why was ubuntu running so slow?

I would also like to know what your definition of slow is. Also can you tell us the version that you have installed on your computer, and the last time that it was updated.

yeah, ubuntu 9.04

hp/Compaq presario laptop cq50
2 gigs of ram
32 bit os
AMD anthlon dual core ql-60 1.90 ghtz

and slow means, it take 2 seconds for the whole screen to refresh when you scroll

and navidia graphics
