I am a little confused here..does android is an OS based on linux? By logic is the same structure and should work on any device supporting android right?

it should be able to run on almost any Android phone, just like windows can run on almost any computer.
the thing is it need to be optimized for the phone and it's still very new.

Yes, the difference is that ubuntu's kernel is primary designed for PC hardware, so I guess they will modify this for phones.

I am not very good with Ubuntu and Linux they confuse me as I haven't had much experience with them..
