Hi,
While turning on the laptop the Toshiba logo comes up then goes, into Windows Error Recovery screen. At that time the the recomended selection is Launch Start up repair. Windows never loads? Cannot launch windows normally? It always goes into a black screen with cursor in the middle, that does not blink? Cannot use recovery disks? My guess it is a hard drive issue? Could it be the BIOS battery need resetting?
Thanks,
Art

You can try resetting the bios battery but it sounds like your issue is a corrupt or failing hars drive. This may work for you. Pull the hard drive from your system attach it to another preferrably with the same os. It will attempt to remove and replace corrupt system itema most likely on the second time you restart the system. Hope this helps.

Hi,
It does not sound like the CMOS as you are getting past the Bios post stages it sounds more like a virus or corrupt system files all of which can be corrected.
First of all have you backed everything up?
Secondly have you tried running as scan with a bootable antivirus?
What Anti-Virus are you running?
Do you have docking station for a ide/sata drive 2.5/3.5 connector? Or can you buy one
Do you have the recovery disks for the windows?
Can you get into safe mode with command prompt by tapping F8 on the keyboard?
If so run a fsc /scannow check and see if any files are corrupt and if so you can restore them using your cd?
What operating system are you running?
