Default Switching OS will saves transfer?

Ok, so I'm going to run windows XP for about 3 months until I can get my new harddrive and Windows 7. My question is if I run games in XP and save and all that, can I transfer the saves (Games will be Windows 7 compatible) to Windows 7 and continue? Or will the saves be locked onto that OS because the OS runs the game a little different? Basically if I start in XP, can I transfer the saves to Win. 7 or do I have to start over?A little hard to word, but thanks in advance!

The game saves don't care what OS they were originally created under. Those will transfer without issue once you reinstall the game on the new drive.
