Hi my name is Gary, i want to speed up my computer, i was told to go to ''msconfig'' and shut down programs running in the back ground, im not sure what to shut down and what is necessary to stay running, Help Please, Thank You..

It would help if we could see what programs you have there currently. Would you mind posting a list or screen cap?

Also, there are other FREE ways to speed up your startup time like disabling GUI boot, and lowering the response time at POST. But even with all of these things, boot time won't be effected by more than a few seconds, if you're looking to really speed things up, look into buying a 30gb or 60gb solid state drive for your operating system to live on. They're not exactly cheap per gb but the speed of these things is awesome.
