Standby

Please help! Everytime I turn the lamp on my desk, my computer wakes up from standby! it is terrible! Please advice me what to do.

I am using windows xp home on a desktop computer.

Okay first thing i'd like to ask you about is your electrical wiring. Unless you're pysically touching a PC part thats the problem, and it sounds like a bad problem. Replace the lamp and if that doesnt work call an electrician.

Thank you for your reply, I never experienced this problem before. I am not touching a PC part, my desk lamp is functioning well.

have you tried just moving it away from the pc, like a table , it's probably static electricity, kind of like when you leave your cell phone next to your computer & someone calls you.

nah i helped him fix it. it appears that it was cuz they were both plugged in to the same power bar thingy and it was causing some power shortage in it or something.
