Default Something is reseting my shell

I own a compaq preario 2500 notebook, running windows XP service pack 2.

Whenever I open "My documents" or "My Computer" or any other instance of windows explorer to browse through my files, my shell restarts. I am using 2xplorer now, but i would like to go back to using windows explorer. Does anybody know what is wrong?
