Hey
so I'm trying to help ol grandma out with a issue shes having and I've sorta reached my end.

What were trying to do is : Send a e-mail using Word 2002

When we attempt to send the message we receive an error:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.live.com', Server: 'smtp.live.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

The server could not be found. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: '', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 12007, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I have configured hotmail with outlook express, both manually (selecting pop and smtp settings etc.) and one pre-configured settings drop down menu "hotmail account" both giving me the same errors..

-No personal firewall (except for microsofts)
-I am able to receive e-mail not send it, through outlook.

Incoming mail server is pop3

(pop3) pop3.live.com server port=25
Outgoing= smtp.live.com server port=995
Both selected to require SSL

I went through microsofts advanced trouble shooting steps and came up with nothing (no suprise there)
any thoughts? Anyone had this issue? I can REALLY use some help! :confused:

I would try deleting the account from Outlook, and then re-adding your credentials.

**EDIT** ok i see the problem! if you're using hotmail you need to change the outgoing server to POP3. Hotmail doesn't use SMTP as far as I know

PS: in the second line you said Word 2002 :p
