Default .sdc file opening

Recently I downloaded genuine windows 8 setup file from my university site..
The downloaded file is .sdc file and it is not opening nor it is booting in my laptop..
can you tell me how should I extract or install windows 8 from this file?

Please help

Windows 8 is not officially released yet so is downloadable from the Windows website as a consumer preview.

Download the .iso file from there, it will save a lot of trouble.
