OK, so in an earlier thread I posted about my laptop giving out on me and asking for advice on possible courses of action to take.

I have been told that my mobo is nonfunctional and that the best course of action would be to take the hard drive out and copy information from A to B.

As a follow up question, as I intend to remove and copy my hard drive; is it necessary to use a program for these purposes, or can I just plug in the drive and then plug in to a functional computer and copy directly? Or is this a special set of actions that DO REQUIRE a program to do this, if so are there any recommendations.

You should be able to remove the drive from the laptop then plug it into another computer and Windows should be able pick up the drive then you can get your files.
