Default reformat computer help.

I have a custom built computer and i am running win 98. It has so many problems right now i just want to start from scratch. How do i reformat my computer to wipe every thing out except the o.s.

Except the OS? You can't really do it without getting rid of the OS - it would be too hard. Much easier would be wipign it all and reinstalling; then it would be a much better clean too.

If you go into MS Dos then you can type in Format C: (or whatever drive, no \) it will ask you some obvious stuff and say you will loose everything. Once its done you can put in the Windows 98 CD and it will install. Then you get a clean install.

If u are using a brand-name pc then u can use the recovery cd included . This will wipe out everything except the OS.

That would be easier - but the computer sounds quite old so I just presumed that the computer would be to old for it to have a recovery CD.

Perhaps so. Then there is no other way than to do a complete reformat then .
