Default Quicker defragging?

Have 2 questions. First, how do I go into safe mode in Windows XP so I can defrag my PC? Second, is there a quicker way to defrag? Sometimes when defragging I see that it gets to 20% or so and starts over and this can go on forever. WTF?

You dont need to be in safe mode to do a drag. Just go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.
Disk Defragmentation can take hours. The best thing to do is leave it on over night. Don't expect it to complete in 10 minutes.
