In this case, it would probably be a modem.... not a network card.

well is the drivers correct?
did you disable and reenable?

your using 56k dialup? or adsl?

i'm lost as to what you're using, if you can tell me the things you're using, the device? is it ethernet card? is it wireless? is it connected to your pc?

just give me everything you've got, did it work before.. previous OS and what not..

Error 769 can be related to a modem not having the drivers installed properly (or at all) Are there any "splats" in Device Manager? Check for any yellow or red marks in Device Manager and let us know.
