Default PC running slow

Hi again, my brothers pc is running really slow, it takes ages to log on to the internet and to do anything on it. What can he do to solve the problem. He has run defrag but with not much success. He cant download anything as it takes forever. any advice will help

What internet does he have? Cable/DSL or a modem, and is the internet just running slow, or the whole computer? Look at this thread:
