OS Disk Bootable Drive type

Ok so I want to boot my OS Disk to do a clean install

Since my disc is DVD-ROM my drives are saying DVD multi recorder DVD -RW and CD-RW which non are recognizing the disk

Can some one remind me of the readable formats to boot?

They should recognize it. IS the disk scratched up something?
Maybe copy the boot image to a USB and try again.

Yeah it probably a lil scratch..so the boot process is not going through. But I tried a new windows disc but same problem? I did a bootable USB. That was the only solution

odd. But glad it worked out for ya.
It's properly your DVD drive that is the problem.
If it dies, go buy a slim sized USB DVD drive. Internal DVD drives are a dying breed

LG makes a little read anything type of optical drive. You can snarf it up at Newegg. Newegg.com - External DVD Writer

I have an internal in mine. I don't like wires everywhere.
