There probably isn't any way to do this but my new pc is 8.1, and it will only play new games/new programs. I have many old dos card games that are fun and they would play on XP. Is there any way to make them work on my new pc? I'm guessing probably not, but just figured I ask.

My guess is that your new computer is running 64-bit 8.1 and your XP system was running 32-bit. Those old games may very well be 16-bit games. 32-bit Windows can run 16-bit software but 64-bit can't.

As suggested, DOSBox will work (provided the games in question are DOS games). Another alternative is to use software such as VirtualBox to create a Virtual Machine running 32-bit XP on your new machine. You will need an XP install disk with a valid Product Key to install on the VM.

If DOSBox doesn't do it for you, use Virtual box and install XP.
