Default NLDR error and BOOTMGR

Ive been getting both of those errors on my friends computer.

He had some issues with his XP install, so we got him windows 7.

After reformating his drives, and getting through the win7 install it would say bootmgr missing ctrl alt del.

So i tried reinstalling XP, got it installed, then the it gave the NTLDR missing error.

So i went into BIOS and changed the hardrive boot parameters. It booted into XP loading then blue screen of death right away.

So i tried Win 7 again. It then wouldnt even complete the install and now the XP disc wont find any hard drives....

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a HDD or Memory issue, try swapping some memory and or changing hard drives, just find one to install something on real fast to attempt it.
