Default windows 2000 formating problem?

Hey guys im new to this site. looks cool!

My computer is a AMD Athalon 1000mhz
512 mb ram
with windows 2000 pro

Im trying to format the HD and do a clean install of 2000.
I created the boot disks and reboot the computer. The computer searches for boot record from floppy drive then procceds to start the windows 2000 setup. then i get a

File \ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded
the error code is 7
Setup Cannot Continue
Press any key to continue

If i tried and boot from cd it it searches the cd then loads from the HD.

i also tried formatting 4 more floppy disks and putting the boot disk on them.
This time during boot up i got this code

Disk I/O Error:

when i boot from floopy shouldnt i get an A: prompt?
i did this 2 years ago on my computer but now i cant remember and im so confused.
