need help with xp and drivers

I have an hp pavilion a1710n desktop. I had windows xp black on it and it kept freezing so now I have xp pro 32 bit and it isn't freezing. But my ethernet adapter isn't popping up in the device manager and I cannot find the correct driver anywhere so I do not have internet on it. Any ideas or suggestions? Any help is apreciated greatly.

According to the HP website, that desktop uses an Asus motherboard which means you need to download the drivers for your motherboard from the Asus site. Try this link: Asus A8M2N-LA Motherboard Drivers

THose seemed to work. They installed and i got online, but it keeps freezing. Noticably more than without the drivers? Could this mean its a hardware related issue? I wonder if ubuntu would freeze on it too.

Dont mean to double post but there is a small dent on the power supply could this be the reason its freezing? It seemed like it was only after i installed drivers though.

Did you install the new OS on another partition or was it a clean install?

Can't say why your system is freezing but I sincerely doubt it has anything to do with a dent in the power supply.

I have been trying to put ubuntu on it. When I boot it up now this comes up everytime.

Might be a hardware issue?

press ctrl+alt+f1 and enter the gui and type startx


seems like a graphics driver problem, try updating.
