Default Microsoft Word 2010

When I cut from say notepad and paste into MS Word is defaults to double spacing. I tried tweaking setting on either end with no luck. I end up having to highlight all and single space it. Is there a way to disable double spacing?

Make sure Word is on the home tab. And see the attached images.

I am just starting to use MS Word after using OO for a wile and i cant find the line indents.
