Default Microsoft Excel query

I am using Microsoft Excel 2010 and when working on a file this morning I noticed that at the top of the page it says that it is working in 'Compatabilty Mode' First time I have ever noticed this.

I am wondering why this would be and, does it matter, does it mean that it's not fully functional or something.

Many thanks.
