lsass.exe error

A critical system process, C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code 00000000. The machine must now be restarted.

Faulting application lsass.exe, version 5.2.3790.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

How can I solve this problem ?

This error appear once a 4-7 days.
No virus !!!

Someone help ?

I have the same problem. I have an HP laptop with XP Home loaded. It seems to do the very same thing about every 2 months. I can't seem to get any help. I have tried to rebuild the windows\system32\config directory but that doesn't work. I usually have to use a ghost image to reload the system back on the machine. I have at least 9 computers running at all times and this one is the only one with the problem. "thankfully!" I'm starting to believe it must some how be a hardware issue that causes the problem. I will be looking for a solution in earnest now as this has become an impossible situation. I hope someone can help. Jeff
