I use MSE. very simple an works great. it has ONLY what i need of features.
Avast has more features then MSE, but i personally don't need them.
I have never used AVG, so i can't speak for that. i'm sure it's just as good as the rest of them.
Protecting wise all well known anti-virus software are more or less equally protective.
so you just need to find the software that that have the features you want.

I know its late, and most proberly not needed.
But I always use AVG, seems to be the best one to use.
It has protected me.
I used to use AVG for virus's and Ad-Aware for spyware.
I only use AVG now as Ad-Aware Live was slowing my computer down.

The Best one I know of and it is a paid version is eset security also protects you against malware attacks. also grab a paid copy of malwarebytes as that is very good and there is more malware and spyware online now days than viruses and adwear hope all goes well
