Default A little help with Grub2

I am still stuck with my problem (If anyone can help here is my post http://www.computerforums.org/showthread.php?t=94495), but I have a few questions if anyone can answer. Is is true that in Grub2 one needs to give the kernel boot parameters? I know that you can do this in grub legacy, but is it mandatory in Grub2? Also If it is mandatory (if it is needed to boot the OS) then how do I know what parameters I need to use? If anyone can please help me I would appreciate it.
