It's not really any faster IMO. Half of the reason it's a little faster is because it doesn't have all of the processes going. But alot of the programs are slower. I would definitely say go with XP, it's more user friendly, has constant updates, and is waaaay more compatible.

Hmm.. Ok so I should prolly stay with XP instead of Linux, but are there any cool features on XP that will make it look/work better?

you can check out some xp tweaking forums for performance, and for looks you can get custom themes and what not to make it look nicer.
