Default linux suse 9.0 help

So im new to linux, and i have a test computer. I have win. 98 on one hard drive, and i added a clean slave drive. Went to the bios and changed boot to CD rom, then slave. I get through the whole installation and then when it trys to boot, my monitor goes out of range. So i changed some display settings, enabled 3d graphics, adjusted the refresh rate, and now only a command line will come up, no gui. Any help would be appreciated.

What GUI interface did you install, Gnome, KDE?
Also, did you try the support forums for the distrobution of Linux?
Its getting late where I am so I won't be able to help you tonight.

do you have the drivers for your graphics card? are they loaded? do you have x11 configured right? do you have your GUI configured right too?
