Default Laptop went Psychotic, Mouse/pointer moves on its own

I have Vista ultimate installed in a HP laptop. All of a sudden;
1. I can't control my pointer.
2. It won't let me do System restore, Install another operating system, get on the internet, etc.

I get a different message every time I try and fix something. My entire desktop has been rearranged also. Whats going on? How do I fix this. I DO NOT have the disk, but I have XP disks and I can't even install them.

A 1719 error and Windows Installer disabled are just two of the messages I've gotten.
Tried to install an ISO "gparted program" and it says it doesn't see the hard drive.

Sounds like a virus or malware. Are you able to boot into safe mode? If so try running a virus scan from there.

Do you have an external mouse plugged in? If so unplug it and see if it stops.
