Default Laptop sometimes does not come out of standby.

Hi all.

I've noticed this issue a lot recently. It happens more and more as time goes on.

Basically what happens is when I put my computer in standby, when I go to wake it up it sometimes just displays a blank screen. It turns on per normal, I hear the hard drive spin up, all the lights turn on but my screen just stays off and I have to pull the battery out as the power button does not respond.

I checked and changed my power settings in Windows 7 and it happened again, so I checked and changed the power settings in my BIOS and it still happened.

It happened again this morning so I checked the event viewer. I put my laptop into standby last night before I went to bed. I saw the following event in the log viewer.

This concerns me. It happens almost on a daily basis now. It tells me the computer shutdown unexpectedly, however I did not shut down my computer, I put it in standby. I am not sure if this is what is making my computer not wake up from standby mode. I have no idea what to do next. Any suggestions?

My computer model and details are in my signature down below.

Make sure your drivers are updated.

I highly doubt it is an issue with drivers. I do a diagnostic startup so only Microsoft things run at startup. I was recommended to do this to see if it would fix the problem, and it didn't, and the thread I was reading ended there with no solution to the problem, so I made a post here.

I'm not exactly sure if a driver issue would be causing this. But, anything is possible. Which drivers are you referring to?

EDIT: Just checked drivers for my monitor and for my display adapter. Both are up to date.
