Default How to?

How do people make a color look glossy? Like I plan to make a 10*10 black layout with a polaroid in the middle, but I thought it would look nice if the black had a nice shine/gloss look...Dont u just use the gradient or something.

Thats not really the shine I want, I know it has something to do with gradients, using the white/black...C'mon marxsoccer wher ya at?
