help with the xp recovery console

hey everybody...i need extream help with my pc...i have to either restore my pc or use the recovery...i would really like to just recover it because i have soo much information on that hard drive that i can't afford to lose...if you could help me i would greatly appreaciate it...thanks

oh btw i forgot to add that the file that got screwed up is the system32 file.

run system file checker, think its sfc /scannow

otherwise run a windows repair install instead of wiping it.

if you have valuable data on it and you want to save that, i would take out the hhd, move the jumper on it to make it a slave drive. then pop it in another computer. once that's done you can them move the files to a usb flash drive or a data cd.
