help with video codecs in ubuntu

what would i have to install to view xvid and divx and h264 ect on ubuntu, like is there a codec pack? cuz in totem movie player you need to install codecs to view xvid and im assuming that you are installing systemwide codecs kinda like cccp, like what would i install? ffmpeg?? or the win32 codecs, ps im using the 32 bit version of ubuntu, im running 3ghz processor with 512 mb of ram ubuntu 7.04

One thing you could do is download Automatix and intalling the codecs from there.

There is some legal issues so Synaptic does not include them.
